Short form film...
Actual definition - A short form film is any motion picture not long enough to be considered a feature film. The academy of motion picture arts and sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits."

They re usually posted on social media platforms or shown prior to a feature film. they can also be used as an alternative to a trailer. sometimes they are found on DVDs on the special features.

Short films are usually seen, by the majority of the public, as a much easier option out of the end making a feature film. Feature films tend to tell a full story, or lead up to the point where the producers are in a position to make a sequel. However, short films are usually made to convey a certain message or bring a certain topic too light. Most people interested in the film industry start out with making short films as a way to show other, higher-up producers and companies how they work. Feature films, most of the time, have a much higher general cost. This is because they will need to take into account the amount of actors, props, sets, tools needed and publicity. Short films will be on the lower spectrum of costs as they have to fit the story into a shorter amount of time, so there is less need for everything to be in large numbers. E.g. there's likely to be fewer actors in a short film compared to feature film. In the film industry, short films can be seen as an easy way for directors to critique a person's work and get a feel for their filming style. Feature films also take much longer to actually produce. it can years to get from a simple concept all the way to a final product that can be shown to the public. Short films are mainly shown on social media platforms rather than following the feature film into the cinema. This is because they are made for the soul purpose of relating to the public or sharing something that the writer is passionate about to the world.
